My Favorite Photo

Hi everybody! I hope you all are OK. Today's post is about one of my favorite photos.

This photo was captured by my friend Carlos. It shows a Lagarto Nítido (Liolaemus nitidus). It was taken at 18th October of 2020, in the Santuario de la Naturaleza Quebrada de la Plata, ubicated in Maipú, Región Metropolitana, Chile.

I really like this photo because it was the first encounter with this specie and the first specie different to all others I was see (like Liolaemus tenuis, Liolaemus fuscus and Liolaemus lemniscatus). In adittion, by this time, I was discover the world of reptils and I has bougth my first reptile field guide, so in this adventure one of my goals was to discover new reptile species.

The encounter was unexpected, we were walking back to our homes, still in the Sanctuary, and suddenly we saw this lizard on a rock. We were very excited, we took out our cell phones that had very low battery and we got this picture.

We spent about 15 minutes looking at the lizard. Slowly I managed to get within a few centimeters of it. She turned out to be not very shy.

After our cell phones were turned off, we said goodbye to the lizard and went on our way. Excitement accompanied us all the way home. Since that day my interest in reptiles grew a lot and has not ceased until today. I hope to soon meet a snake and many other species in one of my outings hahaha.

Thanks you for reading.
